Visiting Copenhagen? Take our Copenhagen Instatour, which shows you our top city spots for beautiful instagram images.
Making mindful memories
Our Copenhagen Instatour is not about mindless snapping. It’s about being uplifted by everyday beauty.
We don’t suggest you click quickly and move on.
Take the time to smell the flowers and listen to the birds. Throw in a coffee break too. It’s totally possible to savour the moment and draw the beauty out of an experience with your camera.
Nothing is ordinary.
This market in the city centre is street food heaven (pick up your Danish pastry and head for the nearest green space for eyes-closed enjoyment).
Torvehallerne is also home to the most beautiful flower stalls.
Prepare to be overwhelmed by the saturated colours of the blooms.
Peony season was in full swing here in spring. Stop and stare!
You couldn’t take a bad photo of this. All you need to do is point your camera – from above, from the side, from wherever … and keep clicking.
Amalienborg is the royal quarter of Copenhagen. For that reason, it can be thronged with tourists.
For the best photos, visit at a quieter time, as well as at the changing of the guard. You’ll see the stunning Marble Church in all its copper-domed glory. The cobbled streets are especially satisfying to walk on when they’re quiet.
It’s hard to believe this image was captured in the late afternoon of a busy weekend. From the pencil-shaped sentry boxes to the guards straight from a toy box, this is the moment that impressed me in this regal square.
On a quiet Copenhagen afternoon, this Scandi square in #Amalienborg looks like a scene assembled from the toy box. Even the sentry boxes look like giant pencils. Our #Copenhagen Instatour (link in bio) will tell you where to find the photographic magic in this stunning city. #roomyhomegoals #interiorswithoutwalls
The fountain at nearby Amaliehaven sprayed refreshing drops over the cobbles. Another perfect pit-stop for drinking in the moment.
Illum is a celebrated Copenhagen department store. Gorgeous Danish-designed products aside, the central atrium is worth a pic on its own.
But for the most exquisite views, go right to the summit and the rooftop cafe.
You’ll get views over the lovely city square, and into Hay House for interiors fans.
Fuelled by the top-notch sky-high caffeine from Original Coffee, we then stepped into some of the greenery-filled courtyards around the city centre.
This part of the city is full of pretty cloistered urban gardens and lots of greenery. Nobody seems to mind if you pop in for a pic. In fact, the spaces seems designed with that in mind.
Also nearby, the most inspiring interiors/gift shop – Beau Marché on Østergade. It’s a beautifully curated oasis of design inspo, vintage finds, strokable stationery and a wine café. Surely worth a moment or more?
This is the image of Copenhagen you’ve all seen already! It’s the place with the coloured buildings lining the waterfront.
Insta-perfect of course, but how to get the best image without filling it with the crowds of tourists (and locals) that gather there?
The answer is to take your pics from the bridges. Fill your frame with boats, water and sky.
#Nyhavn, #Copenhagen – those coloured buildings are definitely going to feature in our Instatour of the city, coming up soon on the website. Super-pretty and super-busy. The city had quieter spots too that were just as photogenic. The spring blossom was everywhere, confetti on concrete. And don't get me started on the interiors shops … suitcase not sufficient, we're talking kitchens, furniture and supersized lighting ⭐️ #roomyhomegoals #interiorswithoutwalls
Next stop on our Copenhagen Instatour is the Round Tower, or Rundetaarn, Europe’s oldest still-working observatory.
You’ll get amazing views from the round platform at the top, but more than half the joy comes from the spiralling walk through the interior. The original design allowed horse and carriage to travel to the top of the tower.
It’s a little haven of Scandi serenity right in the city centre, all organic curves and cobbled brick. The light from the whitewashed interior walls is soothing, and there’s a fab view from every window on the way.
As you rise, you’re rewarded by unmissable views over the city rooftops.
Quite by accident, we walked through an area called Østerport, between the Lakes and Botanic Gardens.
Turned out to be a design delight – with a neighbourhood of lovely townhouses, all bicycles and blossoms.
Walking along the other side of the Lakes, we also discovered a lovely residential area called Indre Nørrebro. For some serious house envy, take a stroll and find your dream home.
Copenhagen has been all about blossom and bicycles. Both everywhere!⠀ #roomyhomegoals #interiorswithoutwalls #apartmenttherapy #atmine #abmlifeiscolorful #colourmyhome #livecolourfully #pursuepretty #interiorlovers #interiorblogger #interiorstylist #pocketofmyhome #styleathome #interiorwarrior #bohodecor #homewithrue #nestandflourish #interiorgoals #acolorstory #ihavethisthingwithpink #theeverygirlblooms #worldinbloom #passionpassport #thatsdarling #cntraveller #theprettycities
Copenhagen Instatour – where to stay
We stayed at the Avenue Hotel in Frederiksberg, just a stroll from the city centre (15 minutes walk) via the Lakes.
It’s part of a chain of design hotels in the city. Rather appealingly, they all offer a glass of wine to residents every evening – you can pop into any of the hotels in the Brøchner group for wine o’clock. We had a quick stop in Hotel SP34 for a glass of red.
The bar at the Avenue was pretty special – comfy sofas, patio with fairy lights and an Aperol cart for instant refreshment.
If you're thinking of a trip to Copenhagen, the Avenue Hotel ticks lots of boxes. This lovely bar to chill in for starters. Hotel staff are incredibly friendly and the organic breakfast was delicious. And an Aperol cart parked up on the fairy-lit patio for evening drinks 🍹 This is a great season to visit the city – the blossom's in full bloom so it's at peak prettiness. Beautiful markets, the pinkest of peonies, hidden courtyards and green spaces. Check out our Stories for more Copenhagen inspiration, including a supersized studded brass doorway which captured our maximalist hearts 💕 #roomyhomegoals #interiorswithoutwalls
